Philadelphia, PA - The UC Riverside men's tennis team returned the courts on Friday afternoon to face off against the Temple Owls at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center, but dropped a 6-1 decision in their second of three East Coast matches. The Highlanders (4-14) had previously played Penn on Tuesday and conclude their swing with a contest at Villanova on Saturday morning.
Quoc Doan picked up the lone point for UCR at the No. 3 singles spot as he defeated Ricardo Velazquez 7-6, 7-5. Felix Macherez, who won three consecutive singles matches last week, won the first set 6-1 at the top singles spot, but dropped the second set 6-1 and fell just short in the third set 7-5. Austin Andres also took his match to the third set, but could not come away with the victory, falling 4-6, 6-4, 6-0.
