Men's Tennis Concludes East Coast Swing With 4-3 Win at Villanova

Philadelphia, PA - The UC Riverside men's tennis team (5-14) concluded their East Coast swing with a 4-3 win at Villanova on Saturday afternoon after previously playing at Penn and Temple earlier in the week.

The Highlanders won two of three doubles matches to start off the afternoon with the first point. The duo of Quoc Doan and Felix Macherez defeated Alex Lesser and John Drosick 8-4 at the No. 1 spot, while Yi Chai and John Park bested Trenton Alenik and Zach Siegler 8-5 at the second position.

In singles play, UCR needed a split to claim the victory, and split they did as the Highlanders and Wildcats each took home three matches. Macherez led UCR at the top spot with a solid 6-4, 6-1 win over Lesser.

After Park and Doan fell at the second and third spots respectively, the Highlanders got help from the lower positions as Austin Andres and Raineir Matias picked up wins at the fourth and fifth spots to secure the Highlander victory.

UCR is back in action on Saturday, April 4 with a 10:00 am Big West Conference match against UC Davis at the Student Recreation Center Tennis Courts.
