Men's Tennis Loses Close 4-3 Big West Match to UC Davis

Riverside, CA - The UC Riverside men's tennis team returned to Big West action on Saturday morning with a dual match against UC Davis at the SRC Tennis Complex, but fell to the Aggies 4-3 in a closely contested match.
The Highlanders (5-15, 0-3) picked up the doubles point as the duo of Yi Chai and John Park earned the 9-8 victory at the second spot, while Michael Conroy and Raineir Matias picked up an 8-6 win at the No. 3 position.
Needing to split the remaining singles matches in order to take home their first conference win of the season, UCR fell just short as the Aggies won four matches to the Highlanders' two. Felix Macherez claimed a win at the No. 1 singles spot defeating Nick Lopez 7-5, 6-2, while Austin Andres garnered the other singles victory with a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at the fourth spot.
UCR returns to the courts for another Big West match against Pacific at 11:00 am on Sunday, April 5.
