UC Riverside 4, UC Davis 0 - Box Score
Riverside, CA - The UC Riverside softball team picked up a UCR record sixth Big West Conference win of the season after taking the series from UC Davis with a 4-0 win on Sunday afternoon at Amy S. Harrison Field. The Highlanders (17-24, 6-6) split the doubleheader with the Aggies (21-21, 5-7) on Saturday, and now have back-to-back series wins for the first time in their eight year Division I history.
Senior pitcher Stephanie Marshall (6-10) took the mound for the Highlanders and held the Aggies scoreless as she pitched an eight-hit complete game, allowing not one batter to reach third base.
Marshall got some help from her teammates as UCR used back-to-back two-run innings to take a 4-0 lead. Marissa Alvidrez got things started offensively for the Highlanders as she belted a solo home run to center field with two outs in the second inning. Krystal Marquez then drew a walk from Aggie pitcher Alex Holmes, and was brought home by a Quinn Redman triple to right field.
In the third inning, UCR picked up right where they left off. After a Kameryn Hebenton double to lead off the inning, Jessica Vasser's two-out double to right center plated Hebenton. Brittany Keeney then followed with a double of her own, scoring pinch runner Dawn Brodersen from second base and increasing the Highlanders lead to 4-0.
Hebenton led UC Riverside with two hits and a run, while four players tallied an RBI and five picked up a hit.
The Highlanders return to the diamond on Saturday-Sunday April 25-26 as they travel up the road to Cal State Northridge for a noon doubleheader with the Matadors.
