Riverside, CA - Senior Erynne Oki won her sixth consecutive singles match at the No. 1 position on Tuesday, but the UC Riverside women's tennis team could not garner enough points as they fell 5-2 to Cal State Northridge in Big West Conference action at the SRC Tennis Complex.
The Highlanders (7-10, 0-7) dropped the doubles point and needed to win at least four of the six singles matches to take home the victory, but the Matadors proved too tough as CSUN claimed four singles matches to UCR's two.
Oki defeated Evgeniya Vertesheva 6-3, 6-1 at the top spot to keep her streak alive, while Angelique Corpuz won 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 4 position for the other Highlander point. Donna McCullough and Nadia Sakhakorn each took their matches to the third set, but neither match finished in favor of UCR.
The Highlanders have one match remaining on their docket as they travel to Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, April 9.
