Platt Named Big West Pitcher of the Week After 2-1 Win at San Diego

The Big West announced on Monday that UC Riverside starter Ryan Platt is the Conference Pitcher of the Week for games played April 27 - May 3. Platt pitched eight innings at San Diego on April 28, scattering just four hits and allowing one run while striking out six in the Highlanders 2-1 win. The 6-1 senior improves to 3-0 on the season.
This is UCR's second consecutive Pitcher of the Week award, as Paul Bargas garnered the honor last week.
The Highlanders, who have won the last seven of eight games, moved into fifth place in the Big West Standings after taking two of three from Pacific over the weekend. The ball club is back in action in a road contest at UNLV on Tuesday, May 5.
