Cesar Diaz Named Big West Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Irvine, CA—The Big West announced today that UC Riverside Men's Soccer player Cesar Diaz is the conference's offensive player of the week for games played from October 25-31.

The Chino, CA native scored two goals on the week including the game-winner in a 2-1 overtime victory against Cal State Northridge on Saturday night. The win was the Highlanders first ever over the Matadors in 19 matches.

Diaz's first goal of the week came aginast seventh-ranked UC Irvine, and staked the Highlanders to an early 1-0 lead. UCR picked up a red card shortly afterwards, however, and was forced to play a man down for the final two thirds of the match which resulted in a 2-1 Anteaters victory.

Diaz has four goals and 11 points on the year, both of which are second on the team. The Highlanders are 5-10-1 on the season, including 2-6-0 in conference, and still have a chance to grab the four seed in the Big West Tournament.
