Irvine, CA—The Big West Conference released its All-Conference Men's Soccer Teams this afternoon, and four members of the Highlanders were honored led by Second-Team selection senior forward Arnie Sanchez (pictured). Freshman forward Ruben Valencia, junior midfielder Cesar Diaz and sophomore defender Jose Diaz were named to the Honorable Mention Team.
Cesar Diaz led the Highlanders in scoring this year with five goals and three assists. Three of those scores were game-winners as UC Riverside posted a 6-10-1 record—the second most wins in the Division I history of the program.
Sanchez chipped in with three goals and a team-high five assists, while Valencia added three scores on the season including one game winner. Jose Diaz's defensive efforts helped the Highlanders post their lowest goals against average since the 2007 season.
The four Big West All-Conference selections for the Highlanders are the second most in the history of the program behind the five the team received following the 2007 campaign.
