UC Santa Barbara Sweeps Highlanders Volleyball In Big West Play

Santa Barbara, CA - The UC Riverside volleyball team returned to Big West Conference action on Tuesday evening with a 3-0 loss at UC Santa Barbara at the Thunderdome, 25-14, 25-15, and 25-14.
The Gauchos took an early 5-0 lead in set one and never looked back, opening their largest margin at 20-10 as they cruised to a 25-14 win.
The second set was close early on as there were six ties scores through the first eight points. The Highlanders were down just one, 11-10, before UCSB outscored UCR 14-4 to close out the set and win 25-15.
The third set mimicked the first set as UC Santa Barbara took an early lead and never let up, coming away with the 25-14 victory.
Kelly Simpson tied for the game-high with 10 kills for the Highlanders, while Megan Patterson tallied 14 digs and Katie Meyers had 17 assists for UCR.
UC Riverside returns home this weekend for two league matches beginning with a 7:00 pm contest against Cal State Northridge on Friday, Nov. 5.
