UC Riverside vs. Montana State Game Notes
Riverside—The UC Riverside Men’s Basketball Team returns to the Student Recreation Center on Sunday, December 19 as the Highlanders look to extend their non-conference home unbeaten streak to 14. Montana State is the opponent, with tip scheduled for 2 pm PT. Fans who are unable to attend the game may listen live as the Voice of the Highlanders, John Ramey, brings the call from courtside to gohighlanders.com via Stretch Internet's Game Central.
UCR is coming off of two straight losses to nationally recognized programs in Stanford and Saint Mary’s which dropped the team’s record to 3-6.
Phil Martin continues to pace the Highlanders offense averaging 15.0 points per game. Javon Borum has come on of late, recording six straight double-digit scoring efforts to improve his average to 11.6 points per game. He was UC Riverside’s leading scorer over the past two games, and is averaging 18.7 points over his last three outings.
The Bobcats enter the game with a 6-4 record, but they have yet to win on the road this season with losses at Hawai’i, Iowa State, Seattle and Illinois State. They have lost three of their last four contests following a 5-1 start to the season. Erik Rush and Bobby Howard lead Montana State’s offensive attack averaging 16.0 and 15.3 points respectively.
The Highlanders and Bobcats have met on just one prior occasion with Montana State picking up the 82-72 win over UC Riverside on December 1, 2001.
