RIVERSIDE, Calif. — UC Riverside men's basketball head coach Gus Argenal announced the additions of Brayden Harris, James Evans Jr., Dallas Washington, Tony Duckett and Abraham Oyeadier as the Highlanders continue to build their roster for the upcoming season.
Harris, a freshman guard, joins UC Riverside after spending the past season at The MacDuffie School in Massachusetts. Prior to his prep year, Harris starred at Valley Christian, where he earned First Team All-West Catholic Athletic League, All-State and All-Bay Area honors. He helped lead the program to its most wins in more than 20 years.
"Brayden is a dynamic young guard with a strong foundation and a winning background," said coach Argenal. "He competes, has been well-coached, and will enhance our outside shooting. We're excited about his long-term development in our program."
Evans brings Division I experience after spending a season with UNLV, Evans appeared in 34 games last season with CSUN, averaging 6.0 points while knocking down 29 three-pointers. A former Top 150 recruit, Evans was a standout at West Ranch High School, where he averaged 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game while surpassing 1,000 career points.
"James brings valuable Division I experience and a proven ability to impact the game," said coach Argenal. "He's a skilled scorer and his background in our conference has prepared him well. We're looking forward to the versatility and shot-making he adds to our team."
Washington joins the Highlanders after playing in 23 games as a true freshman at Long Beach State. A former four-star, Top 100 recruit out of Santa Margarita High School, Washington was ranked top eight players out of California.
"Dallas is an outstanding talent with tremendous upside," said coach Argenal. "He brings size, shot-making, and a competitive edge that will elevate our group. We're excited to help him continue to grow his game."
Duckett arrives at UC Riverside after stops at Saint Mary's and the University of San Diego. During the 2025–26 season at Saint Mary's, he appeared in 22 games, shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 92.0 percent from the free-throw line. Prior to that, Duckett had a standout freshman season at San Diego in 2024–25, where he appeared in 29 games with 22 starts and averaged 10.4 points and 1.9 assists per game, both second on the team. He elevated his play in West Coast Conference action, averaging 11.6 points per game, highlighted by a 31-point performance at LMU. He also scored 21 points in a WCC Tournament win over Pacific and added 17 points against LMU, earning WCC All-Freshman Team honors.
"Tony is a proven performer at the collegiate level," said coach Argenal. "He's efficient, dynamic, and plays with great confidence. He's someone who understands what it takes to compete and win, and he'll bring that mindset to our program."
Oyeadier joins the Highlanders after beginning his collegiate career at West Virginia. Originally from Accra, Ghana, Oyeadier played at Academy of Sports Science Prep in Corona, California, where he averaged 10.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. He began his high school career at Balboa School in Escondido.
"Abraham gives us a strong presence on the interior with his size, physicality, and motor," said coach Argenal. "He rebounds at a high level and protects the rim, and his background speaks to his toughness and work ethic. We're excited about the impact he can make on both ends of the floor."
Together, Harris, Evans, Washington, Duckett and Oyeadier add talent, depth and versatility as UC Riverside continues to shape its roster for the 2026–27 season.
