Four Players In Double Figures Leads UCR To 68-63 Win Over MSU

Riverside, CA - Four players scored in double-figures on Friday evening to lead the UC Riverside women's basketball team to a 68-63 victory over visiting Montana State at the Student Recreation.
The Highlanders improve to 4-2 on the season, the best start in the Division I history of the program.
Rheya Neabors, Rhaya Neabors, and Brittany Waddell each scored 14 points to lead UCR, while Alyssa Morris added 12. Montana State's (2-6) Chelsea Banis led all players with 15 points.
The Bobcats led by five points early in the game, but the Highlanders took their first lead, 18-17, off a Rheya Neabors jumper at the 9:52 mark. UCR pushed its lead to 14 with 50 seconds left in the period, and went into the break leading 43-33.
UC Riverside opened the second half on a 13-3 run within the first four minutes to lead 55-36. However, the Bobcats cut the lead to single-digits seven minutes later, at 58-49.
The Highlanders lead fluctuated between seven and 11 points until the last minute of play, when Montana State hit a three pointer with 1:10 remaining to close to five, 68-63. The Bobcats had three more opportunities to cut the lead further, but missed all remaining three-point attempts as UCR held on for the 68-63 win.
UCR hit 40.0 percent of their shots, including 40.0 percent from three-point range, and benefited from 17 points off 20 MSU turnovers.
The Highlanders break for finals and return to the court for a four-game cross-country road swing beginning at Washington on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2:00 pm.
