Day Two At The UTSA Tournament Begins With A Loss For Softball

San Antonio, TX - After splitting a pair of games on Friday, the UC Riverside softball team (3-8) opened day two at the UTSA Tournament on Saturday morning with a 6-0 loss to the host UT San Antonio at Roadrunner Field.
UTSA scored two runs each in the first, fourth, and sixth innings to take a 6-0 advantage, as the pitching staff held UCR's bats at bay by allowing just four hits.
Sophomore Casey Suda (0-1) got her first start on the mound for the Highlanders, giving up four runs on three hits in 3.1 innings of work. Lauren Molina came in for relief and allowed two runs on five hits in 2.2 innings.
Tiana Towns (pictured), Marissa Alvidrez, Kayla White, and Alexis Villamor all picked up one hit apiece for the Highlanders.
UC Riverside continues play at the UTSA Tournament with a 1:00 pm game against North Texas on Saturday, Feb. 27.
