Four Players In Doubles Figures Lead Women's Hoops To Win Over UCSB

Riverside, CA - Four players in double figures guided the UC Riverside women's basketball team to an 81-48 victory over UC Santa Barbara in Big West action on Saturday afternoon at the Student Recreation Center.
The Highlanders improve to 9-7 overall and 2-1 in league play, while the Gauchos drop to 9-8, 3-2.
UCR used hot shooting and limited UCSB to 0-9 shooting, turning an 8-2 lead into a 27-2 advantage by scoring 19 straight points over a nine minute span in the first half.
The Gauchos then went on a 7-1 run to cut the lead to 19, 28-9, with 3:39 in the period, but the Highlanders quickly pushed the lead back to 25 a minute later as they entered the locker rooms up 42-16.
UCR hit over half their shots (14-26), while limiting UCSB to just 23.5 percent shooting from the field in the first half.
UC Riverside's lead peaked at 37 in the second half, and they led by more than 30 points for the majority of the period.
The 81 points scored by the Highlanders are the most this season and the most since they scored 81 against Northern Arizona on November 15, 2009.
Tre'Shonti Nottingham led all players with a career-high 22 points while Alyssa Morris added 20, Rhaya Neabors had 12, and Brittany Waddell added 11.
UCR shot 47.4 percent from the field for the game, while UCSB's 42.9 percent shooting in the second half upped its overall percentage to 34.2 percent.
The 81-48 win over the Gauchos is the largest margin of victory for UCR against UCSB in the history of the program.
The Highlanders now hit the road at Cal Poly for a 7:00 pm contest on Wednesday, February 19 in San Luis Obispo, CA.
