Riverside—Stephen Bishop aimed for the big leagues all along, even before his days as an all-conference baseball player at UC Riverside. This might not quite have been what he had in mind.
But Bishop, 40, finally pulled on a major league uniform with his portrayal of David Justice in the movie “Moneyball.” In a sense, maybe he has gotten to The Show, or at least gotten closer, in the career he eventually chose.
“Perseverance is something I learned playing baseball at UC Riverside, and it’s been a theme throughout my life since I left there,” he said in a phone interview. “I’m a living, breathing example of how it pays off.”
