Chaneng Varela served as UC Riverside baseball's volunteer assistant coach since the 2022-23 season before being named Assistant Coach as he enters his fourth season in 2026.
Varela helped lead Orange Coast College to back-to-back 3C2A state titles in 2014 and 2015 before playing two years at Lamar, where he was named to the 2016 Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.Â
