11/1/2011 7:47:00 AM | Men's Soccer
Riverside—The milestones just keep on coming for the UC Riverside Men's Soccer team as they moved up to 30th in the nation in Division RPI this week following a 1-1 tie with Cal State Fullerton and a 3-2 win at No. 9 UC Irvine. (Complete RPI List)
The highest end-of-season ranking for a Highlanders Men's Soccer team was an 87th place finish in the 2004 campaign.
UCR also moved up the regional rankings this week jumping into seventh place in the Far West. And for the second time this season, the Highlanders find themselves receiving votes in the Soccer Times national top-25 poll.
UCR is currently in third place in the Big West at 4-3-2 with one match remaining on the regular season schedule. The top four teams advance to the conference tournament, and the Highlanders could clinch a spot this evening (Tuesday), if Cal Poly (3-4-1) and Cal State Northridge (3-3-2) lose their respective matches.
A UC Riverside win over UC Davis (5-3-0) at home on Saturday would also clinch a postseason berth for the Highlanders. Kick off is slated for 6 pm PT at the UCR Soccer Stadium.
