Anaheim, CA—The 76 Classic gets back underway at the Anaheim Convention Center on Sunday, November 27, and the UC Riverside Men’s Basketball team squares off against Washington State at 10:30 am PT in the final game of the event for both teams.
The Highlanders are coming off of a heart-breaking overtime loss to Boston College of the ACC, but must regroup if they are to contend with a Cougars team that is averaging 72.8 points per game while connecting on 48.1 percent of its field goal attempts and 35.7 percent of its three-pointers.
Faisal Aden leads three Washington State players scoring in double figures averaging 17.6 points per game. Brock Motum is right behind him at 15.2 points per game while DeVonte Lacy is chipping in with 10.2 per contest. Aden and Motum are a combined 64 of 113 from the floor.
Defense continues to be UC Riverside’s calling card as they are holding opponents to just 35.0 percent shooting from the field and 30.6 from three-point range.
Phil Martin paces the Highlanders offensive attack averaging 14.4 points per game.
This is the second meeting between UCR and Washington State, as the Cougars hosted the Highlanders on November 19, 2005. Washington State came away with a 31-point win in what was the season opener for both clubs as Josh Akognon scored a game-high 22 points, and Derrick Low posted a 15-point, 11-assist double-double on the night.
