Second-Half Run By Boise State Lifts Them Past Highlanders, 68-58

Boise, ID - After two consecutive losses by less than four points, the UC Riverside women's basketball team looked to rebound on Sunday afternoon with a game at Boise State, but the Broncos used a second-half run to defeat the Highlanders 68-58 at Taco Bell Arena.
The Broncos (4-2) led by four at the half, and the game stayed within a few points through 6:36 of the second half until BSU scored nine consecutive to go up 51-44 with 11:43 remaining. A Leah Washington jumper at the 10:13 mark stopped the run, but Boise State continued to outscore the Highlanders (1-6), pushing its margin to 16, 65-49, with 4:30 remaining.
UC Riverside cut the lead to seven, 65-58, after a bucket by Natasha Hadley, four straight points from Biauna Linton, and a Dynese Adams three-pointer with 1:10 remaining, but the Broncos countered with a three-pointer of their own to hold on for the 10-point victory.
Hadley scored 18 of her team-high and career-high 22 points in the first half as the Highlanders went up 4-0 early in the game. The Broncos scored 10 straight over the next four minutes to go up 10-4, but UCR would score eight of the next 10 points to tie the game at 12 capped off by a Brittany Palmer jumper at the 10:49 mark.
The teams then traded buckets over the next five minutes as there were three more ties scores. With three seconds remaining in the half, Boise State used a jumper in the paint to take a 33-29 advantage at the break.
For the game, the Highlanders outshot the Broncos 48.0 percent (24-of-50) to 45.8 percent (27-of-59), and scored 22 points off 22 BSU turnovers. However, Boise State hit 10 three-pointers compared to UCR's three, and had 28 points in the paint compared to 16 for the Highlanders.
After Hadley's game-high 22 points, Palmer had 10 for UC Riverside while Jazzmin Lewis added eight. Tre'Shonti Nottingham also dished out a career-high eight assists for the Highlanders.
UC Riverside now has a two-week break before their next game, a December 11 contest on the road at Washington State.
