Los Angeles, CA—The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced last week that UC Riverside senior forward Cesar Diaz Pizarro was named to the 2011 Continental Tires NSCAA Men's NCAA Division I All Far West Regional Second Team.
It is the latest in a strong of honors collected by the Chino, CA native who earlier in the season was named Big West Conference Co-Offensive Player of the year and to the All-Big West First-Team.
He led the Highlanders with nine goals and three assists for 21 points during the 2011 season as UC Riverside finished the year with a 9-6-4 mark setting a program record for wins in the process.
The team advanced to the Big West Conference Tournament for the first time in program history before losing 2-0 to UC Irvine in the semifinals. Despite an RPI of 34 heading into the conference tournament, UC Riverside was unable to secure an at-large bid in the 48-team NCAA Tournament field.
Diaz Pizarro ended the year ranked tied for first in the conference in game-winning goals, second in goals, and fourth in points.
