Box Score - #10 Hawaii 2, UC Riverside 0
Box Score - #10 Hawaii 9, UC Riverside 1 (6 innings)
Riverside, CA - The UC Riverside softball team (3-8) dropped a doubleheader to No. 10/11 ranked Hawaii 2-0 and 9-1 (6 inn.) on Tuesday afternoon at Amy S. Harrison Field.
The Highlanders were shutout for the second time in as many games as Hawaii's pitcher, Stephanie Ricketts, pitched a one-hitter against UCR in game one.
The Rainbow Wahine (11-1) plated both their runs off UCR defensive errors, and that was all the offense they would need in the 2-0 victory.
Highlanders pitcher Jordyn McDonald pitched a complete game facing 29 batters and striking out seven while walking none in the loss.
While game one was more of a pitcher's duel, in game two Hawaii's bats came alive as they scored nine runs on 13 hits.
The Wahine plated their first two runs in the first inning off Melissa Gonzalez's single. The team added four runs in the third on a six-hit, one-error inning.
UC Riverside got one run back in the fourth on a Brittany Keeney double that scored Kameryn Hebenton from first base.
However, Hawaii scored two more runs in the fifth and added the final run in the sixth to defeat UCR 9-1 in six innings due to the mercy rule.
Kaia Parnaby picked up the win for the Wahine, tossing a one-hit game while striking out eight. Casey Suda was saddled with the loss for the Highlanders.
