Women's Tennis Evens Record To 1-1 After 6-1 Win Over CSULA

Riverside, CA - The UC Riverside women's tennis team evened out its record to 1-1 on Friday afternoon following a 6-1 victory over visiting Cal State LA at the SRC Tennis Courts.
The Highlanders captured the doubles point to begin the match thanks to a Natalie McKay and Nadia Sakhakorn win at No. 2, 9-7, and an Angelique Corpuz and Kate Bergeson 8-4 win at No. 3.
In singles action, UCR won five of six matches to seal the victory. Jamie Raney defeated Larm McShane at No. 2 6-0, 6-1 while Sakhakorn won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.
McKay used a tie breaker to defeat Jillian Sangria 6-4, 3-6 (11-9) at the fourth spot, while Corpuz won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 5, and Bergeson won 6-2, 6-0 over Maria Xavier at the sixth position.
"Good wins in singles and doubles for Angelique Corpuz and Kate Bergeson," Head Coach Mark Henry stated. "And a very good singles match at #2 for Jamie Raney."
The Highlanders return to action on Saturday, February 5 against Occidental at 11 am at the SRC Tennis Courts in Riverside.
