Softball Concludes Wildcat Invitational With 8-0 Loss To #4 Arizona

Tucson, AZ - The UC Riverside softball team concluded play at the Wildcat Invitational on Sunday afternoon with an 8-0 loss to No. 4 nationally ranked Arizona in five innings at Hillenbrand Stadium.
Jordyn McDonald got the start for the Highlanders (4-14) in the circle, and gave up an unearned run in the first inning to the 2010 NCAA runners up.
In the second, however, the Wildcats touched McDonald for five runs, and a 2-RBI home run in the fourth gave UA a 8-0 margin. Due to the eight-run rule, the game ended after the Highlanders batted in the top of the fifth inning.
Four different UCR players recorded hits, including Ariel Shore, Coco Villamor, Alexis Pickett, and Nicole Carter.
The Highlanders return to host the UCR Tournament beginning Friday, March 11 at 9:30 am at Amy S. Harrison Field in Riverside, CA.
