UC Riverside Women's Tennis Wins Home Finale 5-2 Over Visiting Idaho

Riverside, CA - The UC Riverside women's tennis team won the doubles point and proceeded to claim victories in four of six singles matches snapping a four-match skid with a 5-2 win over Idaho on Thursday afternoon at the SRC Tennis Courts.
The Highlanders began the day by taking the doubles matches at No. 1 and 2. Taylor and Jamie Raney defeated Lozano and Simpson 8-6 at No. 1, while Natalie McKay and Nadia Sakhakorn defeated Ly and Knox 8-5 at No. 2.
UCR then won the singles contests from Nos. 1-4 to seal the win, only falling at five and six.
McKay's victory was the first in singles for the Highlanders, as she won in straight sets 6-0, 6-4 against Barbara Maciocha at No. 4.
At No. 1, Taylor Raney came back from a 6-5 deficit to win set one 7-6, and proceeded to defeat Victoria Lozano 6-3 in the second set to claim the win.
The deciding match was Jamie Raney's, as she defeated Silvia Irimescu 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3.
After winning the first set 6-3, Sakhakorn dropped set two 6-3, but came back to win in the third set 6-2 over Lauren Simpson.
The Highlanders have just one regular season match remaining on their docket, an April 19 match at Cal State Fullerton. The Big West contest gets underway at 2:00 pm in Fullerton, CA.
