Riverside—Anheuser-Busch has teamed up with the UC Riverside Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and chosen baseball players Trevor Hairgrove and Matt Andriese as the May recipients of the "Budweiser Responsibility Matters Good Sport of the Month." Please visit the Budweiser Responsibility Matters web page to view past recipients.
Hairgrove batted .471 in 17 games during the month of April with a .531 on base percentage and a .629 slugging percentage. He increased his average on the year from .253 to .359 over that span, and was named Big West Conference Player of the Week, College Baseball Insider West Region Player of the Week, and College Baseball 360 Primetime Performer for games played from April 18-24.
Andriese threw the first one-hitter in the team's Division I era when he gave up just one single without walking a batter at CSU Bakersfield on April 22. He also threw 10 shutout innings at Long Beach State on April 15, allowing just three hits, but he didn't figure in the decision. For the month, he pitched 39.1 innings allowing 23 hits and striking out 21, allowing opponents to hit .168 against him for a 1.37 earned run average.
Anheuser-Busch congratulates Hairgrove and Andriese for demonstrating that RESPONSIBILITY REALLY DOES MATTER!
