Totten Wins 6k Highlander Invitational As Men's Cross Country Finishes In Third

Riverside, CA—UC Riverside's Seth Totten won the 6k Highlander Invitational Saturday morning at the Ag/Ops Course, running in a personal-best time of 17:41.0. His time was four seconds ahead of the next runner, UC Irvine's Steven Melena in 17:45.8.
As a team, the Highlanders placed third out of three squads, totaling 63 points. The Anteaters won the team event with 30 points followed by Wyoming in second place with 41 points.
"Totten broke the course record," Head Coach Irv Ray stated. "Great preparedness for the Big West Championship."
After Totten, Michael Gauger came in 14th overall for UCR with a time of 18:25.5, followed by Cesar Solis in 21st in 18:46.9.
Nic Beechan placed 23rd in 18:55.2, while Sebastian Puraci finished the 6k course in 19:07.1 to place 25th, and Benjamin Heck finished 28th in 19:17.3.
This was the final tuneup for UC Riverside before the Big West Conference Championship, slated for Saturday, October 27 at 9:30 am PT at UCR's Ag/Ops Course in Riverside.
