Women's Basketball Named To 2013 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout Field

Anchorage, AK—University of Alaska Anchorage athletic director Dr. Steve Cobb announced on Saturday the field for the 2013 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout, naming the UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team as one of four women's teams participating in the tournament.
Joining the Highlanders for the 36th Annual event on November 26-27, 2013 will be Georgetown, host Alaska Anchorage, and one team to be announced.
"This will be my third time participating in the Great Alaska Shootout," Head Coach John Margaritis explained. "Speaking from experience, the people at the University of Alaska Anchorage and their community as a whole run a tournament that is second to none. For a place that is so close to the North Pole with the weather being so cold, the only thing that you feel as a visitor is a genuine warmth as a result of their hospitality."
UCR will be making its second appearance in the Great Alaska Shootout after previously participating in 2006. The Highlanders defeated Butler in the first round (box score) before falling to the host Seawolves (box score) in the finals.
"UAA has great fans that love and support their Seawolves," Margaritis continued. "We are looking forward to once again visiting Anchorage and participating in the Great Alaska Shootout."
