Women's Basketball Hosts Gonzaga In Season Opener Friday At 7 PM

Riverside—The UC Riverside Women’s Basketball Team opens the 2012-13 season on Friday, November 9 against the Gonzaga Bulldogs at 7 pm PT at the SRC Arena.
The Highlanders concluded their preseason with a 59-54 victory over Cal Baptist on November 3 (recap). Senior guard Tre’Shonti Nottingham led all players with 18 points, going 4-for-11 from the field including 2-of-6 from beyond the arc and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe.
Gonzaga is the first of 15 games that UCR will play against teams that reached postseason play a year ago. The Zags made it to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament in 2012, finishing the year with a 28-6 overall record.
UC Riverside lost its most recent contest to Gonzaga, 83-56, on December 17, 2011 (recap/box score). The Bulldogs were ranked 25th in the nation at the time.
Gonzaga defeated Eastern Oregon, 90-48, in its lone exhibition game of the 2012-13 season.
