Women's Tennis Falls 6-1 To Tigers To Open League Play

Riverside, CA—The UC Riverside women's tennis team opened up Big West Conference play on Sunday afternoon by dropping a 6-1 decision to Pacific at the SRC Tennis Courts.
UCR's duo of Courtney Pattugalan and Kate Bergeson won their doubles match at No. 2, 8-6, but the Highlanders lost at Nos. 1 and 3, giving the Tigers the first point.
In singles play, Taylor Raney raced out to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Gergana Boncheva at No. 4, securing the Highlanders a point.
At the third spot, Natalie McKay won the first set 6-2 over Susan Te, but lost in heartbreaking fashion 7-6 in the second set, and could not pull it out in the final set, falling 6-1.
UC Riverside had other close matches at Nos. 1, 5, and 6, but could not prevail as the Tigers went on for the win.
The Highlanders return to action hosting Long Beach State on Friday, February 17 at 2:00 pm at the SRC Tennis Courts in Riverside.
