Jamie Raney Defeats Ranked Player But Women's Tennis Falls 6-1 To #45 LBSU

Riverside, CA—UC Riverside's Jamie Raney came up with a big win at No. 1 singles over a ranked opponent, but that was the only point the Highlanders garnered as they dropped a 6-1 decision to #45 Long Beach State at the SRC Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon.

Raney lost her first set 6-1, but rallied for a 6-4 win in the second set, and won the tiebreaker 10-5 over #111 ranked Rachel Manasse at No. 1 singles.

The 49ers won the rest of the singles matches in two sets, and claimed all three doubles matches for the final point.

UC Riverside has a quick turnaround as they travel to Las Vegas, NV for a 1:00 pm neutral match against Utah State on Saturday, February 18.
