Macherez And Andres Win In Singles But UCR Falls 5-2 At LMU

Los Angeles, CA—The UC Riverside men's tennis team won two matches in singles competition, but dropped the remaining four as Loyola Marymount upended the Highlanders 5-2 on Friday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Center.
After dropping the doubles point, UC Riverside rallied back with victories at Nos. 1 and 3 singles. Felix Macherez grinded out a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 1 over Alex Wilton, while Austin Andres won in the tiebreaker 1-6, 6-4 (10-8) at No. 3 over Todd Volmari.
The Lions won easily in the rest of the singles matches, however, to secure the victory.
The Highlanders return to Los Angeles to play Saint Mary's in a neutral match on Sunday, February 26 at noon.
