Men's Tennis Rallies In Singles For 4-3 Victory Over Weber State

Las Vegas, NV - The UC Riverside men's tennis team lost the doubles point but rallied for four wins in singles play to defeat Weber State 4-3 on Saturday afternoon in a neutral-site match in Sin City.
UCR's duo of Luis Gastao and Kevin Griffin won their doubles match 8-5 at No. 2, but the Wildcats earned wins at Nos. 1 and 3 to claim the point.
In singles play, however, the Highlanders rallied by winning four of the six contests to earn the victory.
Austin Andres defeated Peter Ramstrommer Pello 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 to give UCR its first point of the day. Jimmy Roberts then made quick work of Oliver Good at No. 2, 6-1, 6-3, as the Highlanders took a 2-1 lead.
Felix Macherez lost his match at No. 1 as Weber State tied it at 2-2, but UCR used Simon Peter's win at No. 6 over Ryan Garner, 6-3, 7-6, to take a 3-2 lead.
Gastao then came through with a 7-6, 7-5 victory at No. 4 to secure the match for the Highlanders, as the team ended up winning 4-3.
UC Riverside remains in Las Vegas to play Seattle Univeresity in another neutral-site match on Sunday, March 25 at 9:00 am.
