Conference Play Gets Underway For Women's Hoops Thursday At 7 PM PT Vs CS Northridge

Riverside—The UC Riverside Women’s Basketball Team begins the Big West Conference portion of its schedule this Thursday, January 3 with a 7 pm PT tip against Cal State Northridge at the SRC Arena. The Highlanders bring a 7-4 record into the game, setting a new program, Division I-era mark for most wins heading into league play.

UCR got back to its winning ways last weekend, defeating UNLV 82-66 on December 29 (box score/recap). Natasha Hadley had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the squad, while Tre'Shonti Nottingham added 21 points. Nottingham continues to pace the team and league averaging 21.4 ppg.

Cal State Northridge is 6-5 this season, with its most impressive win coming in a 77-72 upset over #12 UCLA on December 20. Ashlee Guay and Marta Masoni pace the Matadors in scoring respectively averaging 14.0 and 13.8 points per game.

The Highlanders own the all-time series mark against CSUN, 31-24, but the Matadors won both contests one year ago. Prior to that, UC Riverside defeated Cal State Northridge on nine consecutive occasions from Feb. 8, 2007-Feb. 3, 2011. View the all-time results.
