Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team welcomed the sixth ranked team in the nation to the Inland Empire Saturday evening battling Cal State Northridge to a scoreless tie (Box Score/Video Recap).
The teams played evenly throughout the match with the Highlanders outshooting the Matadors by the slimmest of margins, 16-15.
Romario Lomelli had the best scoring opportunity during regulation, nearly breaking the tie late in the first, but his header bounced off the cross bar out of harms way.
Both teams had additional opportunities throughout the second half and both overtime periods, but Ashkan Khosravi recorded a season-high eight saves for UCR, and Adam Hobbs chipped in with five for Cal State Northridge.
The Highlanders are on the road this week as they travel to UC Irvine on Wednesday, October 23, and Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, October 26. Both matches kick off at 7 pm PT.
