Women's Tennis Picks Up First Victory Of Season, 7-2, At Point Loma Nazarene

San Diego, CA—The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team earned its first victory of the 2013 season Saturday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over Point Loma Nazarene. UCR won all three doubles matches for the sweep, and won in singles at numbers 1-4 to earn the win.
Jamie and Taylor Raney defeated Penner and Venugopal 8-4 at number one doubles, while Natalie McKay and Courtney Pattugalan likewise earned an 8-4 victory at number two doubles. Kate Bergeson and Thanh Doan had their hands full at number three doubles, but emerged victorious, 9-7, over Steinhauer and Chui.
In singles, Jamie Raney made quick work of Maika Adair at #1, winning 6-0, 6-3, while Taylor Raney won in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 over Hope Penner at number two. McKay defeated Preethika Venugopal 6-2, 6-3 at number three, while Pattugalan claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win at #4.
Bergeson lost her singles match at number five in three sets, while Doan was defeated in straight sets at #6.
The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team has a week off before hosting Nevada on Friday, March 1 at pm PT at Andulka Park in Riverside.
