3/23/2013 4:12:00 PM | Men's Tennis
Riverside, CA - The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team concluded its five-match home stand Saturday morning with a 6-1 loss to Sacramento State.
The Hornets won in doubles, 8-4 at number two and 8-1 at number one to secure the first point of the match, with the match at the top spot going unfinished.
In singles, Sac State took a 2-0 lead with a win at #4, but UCR's Marcus Vizcarra closed the gap to 2-1 with a 7-5, 6-2 win at number five.
That was all the scoring the Highlanders would do, however, as the Hornets won in the remaining four matches to earn the 6-1 victory.
"We had a tough match with Sac State today," Head Coach Tim Downey stated. "We keep inching closer to improving our games and getting to be a tougher out for our opponents. We had great effort today with one more match to prep for conference next week."
UC Riverside now travels to Honolulu, Hawai'i to take on Hawai'i Pacific on March 28 and Hawai'i on March 30.
