Ruffin Wins At #3 Singles For Men's Tennis In 6-1 Loss At Hawai'i

Honolulu, HI—The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team concluded its two-match road swing in the Aloha State Saturday with a 6-1 loss at the University of Hawai'i in Big West Conference action.
The Rainbow Warriors took the doubles point with an 8-1 win at the top spot and an 8-6 win at number two. The match at number three went unfinished once the point was claimed.
"Numbers two and three doubles played solid today," Head Coach Tim Downey stated. "We are coming along there."
In singles, Julian Ruffin defeated Dmytro Kavalyov 7-6, 5-7, 12-10 to earn UCR's lone point of the match.
"The match of the day belonged to Julian," Downey continued. "He held off a number of match points to secure the victory."
The Highlanders now return to the mainland to host BYU-Hawai'i on Tuesday, April 2 at 12 pm PT at Andulka Park.
