Gauchos Defeat UCR Men's Tennis 6-1

Santa Barbara, CA - The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team returned to Big West Conference action Saturday afternoon with a 6-1 loss at UC Santa Barbara.
Doubles was competitive with the Gauchos edging out UCR's number one duo, 8-7, and winning at numbers two and three with identical 8-4 scores.
In singles, Calvin Ngo earned the Highlanders first point of the day with a 7-6, 7-5 win over Sasha Gryaznov at #4. Julian Ruffin almost joined his teammate in the win column but fell just short to Axel Bouilin, 3-6, 7-6 (12-10) at number three.
"It was a tough match today," Head Coach Tim Downey stated. "Doubles was close and Calvin and Julian played great matches."
UC Riverside remains on the road next traveling to Cal Poly on Sunday for an 11 am PT match in San Luis Obispo.
