Men's Tennis Falls To Hawai'i Pacific, 7-0

Honolulu, HI - The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team dropped a 7-0 decision to Hawai'i Pacific Thursday in the first match of a two-game road swing in the Aloha State. The Sea Warriors are currently ranked No. 5 in the nation in NCAA Division II.

HPU opened up the contest with an 8-6 win at number one doubles, and an 8-4 victory at number two to secure the first point of the match.

In singles, Hawai'i Pacific swept all six matches to earn the 7-0 sweep. Luis Gastao went into a tiebreaker at #2 before falling to Gerard Moretti 7-6, 2-6, 11-9.

"HPU was a very solid team," Head Coach Tim Downey stated. "We played them tough and hopefully we will be prepared for our opening conference match against Hawai'i.

The Highlanders now open Big West Conference play against the University of Hawai'i on Saturday, March 30 at 1 pm PT in Honolulu.
