Ruffin Wins At #3 Singles In 6-1 Loss For Men's Tennis Against Anteaters

Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team lost a 6-1 battle to UC Irvine Wednesday afternoon in Big West Conference action at Andulka Park.
The Anteaters took the doubles point with an 8-3 win at number one, 8-5 at number two, and 8-1 at number three.
In singles, Julian Ruffin emerged victorious for UCR defeating Jonathan Hammel 6-3, 6-4 at #3.
"Julian played a very solid match against today," Head Coach Tim Downey explained.
Luis Gastao won his first set at number two, 6-0, but dropped the second and third sets, 6-4, 6-3 to Reo Asami. The other four singles matches went in favor of UC Irvine in straight sets in the victory.
"We were just outplayed today," Downey continued. "You have to give UCI a lot of credit. So, now we have to focus on two weekend matches and be ready."
The Highlanders now gear up to host UC Davis and Pacific on April 20-21 respectively at Andulka Park.
