Otis Earle's Overtime Goal Gives Men's Soccer 2-1 Preseason Win Over Cal Baptist

Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team welcomed California Baptist University to campus on Saturday evening in the lone preseason game of the year for the Highlanders, and it was Otis Earle's overtime goal in the 97th minute that sent UCR home happy with a 2-1 victory (Box Score PDF/Video Recap).
Neither team dented the back of the net in the first half, but the Highlanders had a few chances, none better than Jonathan Tovar's shot that caromed off of the cross bar in the 22nd minute of play
UC Riverside finally broke through with 2:02 gone in the second when Ulisis Mosqueda and Julio Reyes found Romario Lomeli in the box for a 1-0 lead.
Just over a minute later Alex Anderson tied the score beating UCR keeper KC Johns to the right side of the net.
That 1-1 score held up through six minutes and 48 seconds of overtime when Ruben Valencia found Kouri Nago streaking down the right side of the field. Nago then centered the ball to Earle who beat the Lancers keeper for the victory.
The Highlanders open the 2013 regular season this Friday, August 30 with a 7 pm home match against Iona.
