Men's Soccer Maintains Hold On Third Place With 1-1 Tie vs. Cal State Fullerton

Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team battled Cal State Fullerton to a 1-1 tie Saturday evening, maintaining their hold on third place in the Big West's South Division.
Fourth place CSUN toppled nationally-ranked UC Irvine, 3-0, Saturday to make up ground against the Highlanders, but by tying the Titans, UC Riverside keeps a one-point lead over the Matadors with three matches to play. The top three teams in each division advance to the conference tournament.

Michael Salazar put the Highlanders up 1-0 in the 16th minute as Johnny Tovar chipped the ball to Otis Earle on the left side of the Titans box, and Earle centered it to Salazar for his team-leading fifth score of the season.
Just over seven minutes later, Spencer Johnson's corner kick sailed through the Highlanders 18, and Mitchell Bell headed it back across the mouth of the UCR goal. Amara Soumah was there to slot the ball past UC Riverside keeper Ashkan Khosravi, tying the score at tone.
Despite combining for 18 shots in the second half, that 1-1 tie held up through regulation. Seven more shots were taken during the two 10-minute overtime periods, but neither team could find the back of the net.
The Highlanders remain at home this week hosting CSUN on Wednesday, October 29 beginning at 7 pm. UC Riverside will honors its seniors prior to kick offf.
