Long Beach, CA - The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team opened up its fall schedule on Friday with singles and doubles matches at the Beach Tennis Fall Tournament.

All three of the Highlanders singles matches in Flight 4 went in favor of UCR. Kassie Truong defeated Christy Scott of Montana, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2, Sophie El-Kara defeated Devyn Billingsley of Cal State Fullerton 6-3, 6-1, and Natalie Penner defeated Alana Chaplin of Portland State, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles action, Truong and El-Kara combined to beat UC Irvine's Anda and Harrington 8-5 in the first round of Flight 2.

The Beach Tennis Fall Tournament continues Saturday.
