Las Vegas, NV - The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team played its second match in as many days Saturday, dropping a 4-0 contest to New Mexico State.
NMSU earned the doubles point with a 6-5 win at #1, and a 6-3 victory at #2. The Highlanders duo of Julian Ruffin and Marcus Vizcarra took the match at #3, however, winning 6-3.
In singles play, the Aggies earned wins at numbers two, five, and six to claim the 4-0 victory. The remaining three singles matches went unfinished once New Mexico State won the match.
"We made an absolutely terrific effort today," Head Coach Tim Downey stated. "The team is really starting to come together with unified purpose and drive to get better.
"We were a couple points from earning the doubles point, and four of the matches were three-setters.
"We may be a young team but, we are really improving together."
The Highlanders conclude their weekend in Las Vegas with two matches on Sunday, facing Southern Mississippi and UNLV at 10 am PT and 2 pm respectively.
