Softball Win Streak Reaches Three With 4-2 Victory Over Seattle

Riverside—The UC Riverside Softball Team increased its winning streak to three games Friday afternoon following a 4-2 victory over Seattle on day one of the Amy S. Harrison Classic. Box Score.
Alyssa Razo pitched a complete game striking out four while walking only one.
The Highlanders had the bases loaded with two outs in the first inning, thanks to a Dionne Anderson single, and walks to Shyleme Helms and Taylor Wilson. With Natalie Sanchez at the plate, Seattle's catcher threw down to first in an attempted pick off, but the first baseman mishandled the throw, and the ball went astray as Anderson came home to put UCR on top, 1-0.
An inning later, Stephanie Tickemyer singled with one out, and moved to second on a sac bunt from Kris DeAnda. Anderson then drove Tickemyer home with a single up the middle, making it 2-0 Highlanders.
In the third, Karina Romero led off the inning with a single up the middle, and scored as Ashley Ercolano blasted a 2-RBI home run to centerfield as the lead increased to 4-0.
Seattle cut the lead in half in the top of the fourth on a Bubba Marrow 2-RBI homer to left field that bounced off the scoreboard.
Razo retired the side in both the fifth and sixth innings, and allowed a leadoff single in the seventh before getting the next three batters out to end the game.
The Highlanders now continue the Amy S. Harrison Classic on Saturday with two games, facing off against Loyola Marymount at 11:30 am PT, and concluding with a 2 pm contest versus Seattle.
