Women's Tennis Wins Doubles Point But Drops Heartbreaker 4-3 to Southern Utah

Riverside—The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team lost a heartbreaker, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon to Southern Utah at Andulka Park.

The Highlanders won the doubles point with victories at the first and third flights.

At number one, Jasmine Almaguer and Kate Bergeson defeated SUU's duo 8-7, and at number three, Tiffany Jue and Thanh Doan won 8-5 to give UCR the first point of the match.

In singles, Almaguer also earned a 6-1, 6-4 win over Alex Ivanova at #1, while Doan came through with a 1-6, 7-6 (10-3) victory at number six.

Unfortunately, however, the Thunderbirds were victorious in singles matches two through five, earning the four points needed for victory and upending the Highlanders, 4-3.

UC Riverside now returns to Big West Conference play, hosting Hawai'i on Thursday, March 27 at 12 pm PT at Andulka Park in Riverside.
