Long Beach—The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team continues its three-game road swing on Saturday, February 8 traveling to Long Beach State for a 4 pm PT tip at the Walter Pryamid. This is the first meeting between these clubs this season, and marks the midway point in Big West Conference play.
The Highlanders seemed on the brink of winning their first league game this season at Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, but the Titans erased an 18-point deficit to come from behind and earn the victory, 60-57 (box score/recap).
Brittany Crain averages 18.2 points per game to lead the squad, while Annelise Ito, Simone DeCoud, and Natasha Hadley all average between 10.5 and 11.5 ppg.
Long Beach State dropped a 78-58 decision to UC Irvine on Thursday, bringing its record to 12-10 overall and 4-4 in conference play. The 49ers have three players averaging double-digit scoring led by Raven Benton's 13.3. Additionally, four more players average between 7.1 and 8.9 points per game.
UCR owns the all-time series record against the Beach, 17-13 (view all-time results). Last season, the teams' split their pair of games, with the Highlanders winning by one point, 50-49, on January 17, 2013 (box score/recap), and Long Beach State earning an 80-66 win on February 16 (box score/recap).
