Men's Tennis Wins Two Singles Matches But Falls Short In 5-2 Loss To Richmond

Riverside, CA - The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team dropped a 5-2 decision to Richmond on Wednesday afternoon at Andulka Park.

The Spiders won close matches at numbers one and two doubles, 8-5 and 8-6 respectively, to earn the first point of the day.

In singles, the Highlanders won two as Cooper Bridge defeated Dylan Trent 6-2, 1-0 ret. at number three, and Marcus Vizcarra earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Canyon Teague at #5.

Richmond claimed singles wins in the other four matches, however, including two tiebreaker matches, to get the win.

"Today wasn't our day, unfortunately, but the guys fought hard," Head Coach Tim Downey stated. "Our effort is solid now and the prospects are great. We all understand what we are trying to accomplish as players and as a team."

UC Riverside now prepares for a Sunday, March 16 noon match against Army at Andulka Park in Riverside.
