Men's Tennis Swept By Azusa Pacific, 9-0
4/5/2014 3:22:00 PM | Men's Tennis
Azusa, CA - The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team returned from a three week break in action Saturday with a 9-0 loss to Azusa Pacific, ranked #10 in NCAA Division II.
APU came out of the gate with wins in each of the three doubles matches, and took singles competition in straight sets in five of the six matches.
The Highlanders lone match that went into a tiebreaker was by Cooper Bridge, who battled #7 Frederik Wilkens at number two before falling, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6.
"This was a disappointing effort today," Head Coach Tim Downey stated. "We were a little rusty from the long layoff, and APU came out and played solid."
UC Riverside has less than a day to prepare for its next match, facing UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, April 6 at 12 pm PT at Andulka Park in Riverside.
