Faith Makau Just Misses Out On Trip To NCAAs In 800m

Austin, TX—UC Riverside's Faith Makau missed out on joining teammate Danielle Littleton in earning a trip to the NCAA Championships in Eugene Oregon in two weeks by less than a second as she finished 15th in the Women's 800m Friday evening with a time of 2:06.32. That was the Highlanders' top performance over the final two days of the NCAA West Preliminary round.

Littleton punched her ticket to the championships on Thursday in the Long Jump (read story), and tried to double dip in the 100m Hurdles, but she finished 31st overall Friday with a time of 13.61.

Raquel Hefflin missed out on her NCAA trip by two seconds in the 1,500m finishing in 4:21.37 which was good enough for 18th place.

Michael Koger was the top men's finisher for UCR over the final two days of competition coming in 23rd in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 53.03.

The Women's 4x400m Relay Team of Noelle Abboud, Asha Giles, Jazmine Harper and Amber Wright finished 24th in 3:42.41.

Breana Jemison posted a 29th place finish in the Women's Shot Put (14.90m, 48' 10.75").

Seth Totten, came in 35th in the Men's 5,000m (14:41.02).

Craig Mauldin top mark in the Men's Triple Jump of 14.62m (47' 11.75") was good enough for 41st place.

Deja Watkins finished in 44th place in the Women's Discus (43.03, 141' 2").
